WATCHING Alfredo Morelos has been a frustrating chore at times.

He would miss chances, which any of us can do of course, but his body language would make you think he was in a permanent sulk and would prefer to anywhere than on the pitch.

On Sunday, the same moody young man was unplayable.

Morelos put in his best performance in a blue jersey against St Johnstone and his season is just getting better and better.

He is scoring goals, making chances and giving defenders twisted blood with the way he takes a ball and then turns his man.

Just ask the poor St Johnstone players who tried to stop him.

I always knew there was a good player in there. I think we all did.

And last season, overall, Morelos did really well. It was a shame it finished so badly for him and that stuck in a few minds.

You have to remember he is young and in a strange country with a big club which was struggling. That he did play well at times, and scored a few goals, is testament to his character.

I have loved watching him this season. Okay, there have been two red cards - one which has been rescinded - and the temper is always there, something he will deal with as he gets older.

However, the most important thing is that he wants the ball, is ready to try something different and is scoring goals.

Kyle Lafferty has been a great help to him.

The two are great as a pair. It’s been great to watch them click so well and so early.

Morelos on his day is a real star for this Rangers team and, again, it’s impossible not to praise Steven Gerard and his coaching staff for getting the best out of their Colombian.

Most of the credit goes to the man himself who is working hard, and even smiling. No matter his manager described Morelos’s performance on Sunday as ‘stunning.’
