A bid to build 22 homes for social rent at Arden has been submitted to Glasgow City Council.

AS Homes Scotland Ltd wants to build properties to be let by Glen Oaks Housing Association on the outskirts of the city at Kilmuir Crescent.

The firm has said the proposal is a “continuation of a previous phase of development nearby” and will contribute to “the ongoing regeneration of the area”.

There would be 18 two-storey homes and four cottage flats constructed if the plans are approved. Two of the properties would be wheelchair adaptable.

In plans submitted to the council, the developers said: “The proposal will create a welcoming and attractive residential area with well-integrated and usable open space and landscaped areas.”

Documents also show there would be 24 car parking spaces provided.  They add: “The car parking has been designed to remain as central as possible to ensure convenience and avoid over-prominence in the development, whilst the proposed amenity space is located in a prominent position to ensure overlooking and safety for users.”

More housing by Glen Oaks Housing Association has recently been provided along Kilmuir Road and at Kilmuir Crescent, while the former St Louise Primary School to the north west of the site has also been redeveloped to create 48 homes.
