A GLASGOW man who was caught with a knife in his hand said he "got it from a group of youths".

Cops were called to Keppochhill Road in North Glasgow around 1.45am on September 18, 2022, after reports of a disturbance.

They attended and reviewed CCTV footage, which showed Alan Taggart, 38, with a knife openly in view.

He was also drinking alcohol from a bottle at the same time.

Later, he was tracked by cops, arrested, cautioned and charged.

He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week after pleading guilty to the offence.

His lawyer said: "He had been in a public house and was on the street intoxicated.

"His recollection is not as good as it should have been. He accepts he is in possession of a knife in the footage.

“There was a group of youths in the area and he suspects he may have gotten the knife from them.

“He must have discarded it before going home.

“He is currently subject to a structural deferred sentence with the alcohol court.

“He is able to undertake unpaid work but he has duties he carries out in the evening."

Sheriff Owen Mullan replied: "Are you referring to walking the dog? His partner could do that."

A community payback order was imposed on Taggart, requiring him to complete 90 hours of unpaid work.

He was also tagged for 108 days, forcing him to stay within his home between 7pm and 7am.
