Part of a major Glasgow motorway has been closed due to an emergency incident.

Glasgow City Council has said the M8's eastbound on-ramp at Junction 20 on West Street in the city is currently shut due to a vehicle smash.

999 crews, including police, are in attendance at the accident.

It is unclear if anyone has been injured during it.

Road users are being advised to consider an alternative route and expect delays in the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 1.25pm on Friday, March 15, 2024, police were called to the West Street area of Glasgow, following a report of a two-vehicle crash.

"Police remain at the scene and recovery has been arranged.”
