A busy Glasgow motorway is set for major diversions that will last nearly a month.

The M8 motorway will see the closure of the eastbound M8 carriageway between Junctions 18 and 16 and the eastbound on slip roads at Junction 19 and Junction 18 overnight as phase three of essential works is set to be complete.

This will begin on Thursday, November 23, until Thursday, November 30, starting at 10pm each night with the traffic management removed by 6am the following morning. 

The same section of carriageway and slip roads will be closed again on Sunday, December 3 until Thursday, December, 21, starting at 10pm each night with the traffic management removed by 6am the following morning. 

There will be two diversion routes in operation throughout these closures.

Diversion one will see traffic exit at junction 19, Bothwell, onto Pitt Street for St Vincent Street and onto North Street. Traffic will then carry onto St Georges Road onto Garscube Road, following for Dobbie’s Loan and onto junction 16, Craighall,. 

And the second diversion will see traffic exit at Junction 18, St Georges Road, onto St Georges Road for Garscube Road. Traffic will then continue to Dobbie’s Loan onto Junction 16, Craighall.  

The diversion for the slip road diversions will see traffic be diverted for North Street onto St Georges Road and then join the diversion for the main closure.  

We earlier reported that for phase two, the eastbound M8 carriageway between Junctions 22 and 15 will be cordoned off, from Wednesday, November 8 until Friday, November 17, starting at 10pm and finishing at  6am. 

Vehicles entering the LEZ as part of the diversion must follow the diversion signage at all times
