Two people were rushed to hospital after a horror crash on a busy motorway on Sunday evening.

999 crews raced to the scene around 7pm on the M8 near Riddrie following reports of the two-car collision.

One of the cars was flipped on its side due to the impact of the crash.

Two people were taken to hospital by ambulance. Their conditions are unknown.

The motorway was closed for just over two hours between junctions 11 and 12 while emergency crews dealt with the aftermath.

It reopened around 9.30pm last night.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 7.05pm on Sunday, September 3 2023 police received a report of a two-vehicle crash on the M8 near junction 12 at Riddrie.

"Emergency services attended and two people were taken to hospital by ambulance.

"Diversions were in place until the road completely reopened at around 9.25pm."
