SPECIAL children across Glasgow have been rewarded for their bravery and acts of kindness towards others in need.

Aspire Academy Glasgow launched their 12 days of Christmas appeal to find kids who had gone above and beyond to help those less fortunate than themselves. Yesterday, we shared the first six of inspirational 12 stories.

Children have been visited by Aspire’s Christmas Elf and Disney Princess who delivered the prizes.

Gail McCarthy, business developer, said: “There were children who were going through hard times showing acts of kindness and bravery.

“That speaks volumes for the kids of Glasgow. These children are our future.”

Isla Telfer’s little sister Iona passed away recently from Cystic Fibrosis this year. Isla helped her sister through treatment and take her medicine.

Lewis Macdonald helped his family through the toughest of times when his baby brothers were born at 29 week. Lewis spent long summer days visiting them.

Daniel Steel has been knocking on doors to collect for his local foodbank in Coatbridge. At Halloween he decided he would donate his sweets from trick or treating to those less fortunate.

Shae Morris regularly helps the homeless in Glasgow city centre - attending every second Saturday to provide hot drinks, food and warm garments including sleeping bags and clothes.

Logan Docherty helped looked after his baby brother after his mum suffered complications and required surgery. Logan helped to feed him, get him ready and play with him allowing his mother to rest.

Elsie the Elf also visited Eastmuir School this month to congratulate the children for their hard work and selfless behaviour.

Ms McCarthy added: “I want to say well done to all the kids that entered. Some of them are doing things not even an adult would consider. They are going above and beyond to serve their community.”
