THE twin sister of a Glasgow man who died after he was thrown from his motorbike in a road crash has paid tribute to her 'beautiful baby brother'.

Allan Nicholson, 24, tragically lost his life on Saturday morning after a road crash on the A725 East Kilbride Expressway.

Police revealed that a white Ford Mondeo was travelling south on the northbound carriageway, approximately half a mile south of the Raith Interchange, when it was involved in a collision with a red Suzuki motorcycle. The crash happened at around 6.45am.

Allan was thrown from the vehicle which subsequently caught fire. Emergency services attended but Allan was pronounced dead at the scene.

His sister, who is understood to be from the Knightswood area of the city, said: "My beautiful baby brother. Although we’re twins, you have always been my little brother. Oh life can be so damn cruel. Mamma will look after you now. Rest easy little man. I love you, forever."

She added: "If anyone happens to have seen or have any information regarding the crash that happened on the East Kilbride Expressway (A725) please get in touch with the police. The more information we get, the faster this case can close. The faster this case closes, the sooner I can put my brother to rest."

Allan's heartbroken girlfriend Antonia Hunt simply shared an image of him on social media wearing his motorcycling clothing.

Police Scotland confirmed on Sunday that they arrested the 34-year-old driver of the car in connection with the incident.

He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

He was later charged in connection with the incident and is due before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.

Chief Inspector Darren Faulds, from Road Policing, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or observed either vehicle on the southbound carriageway prior to it happening, to please get in touch.

“I would also ask any motorists with dash-cams who were on the road around the time of the incident to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance to the investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell via 101, quoting incident number 0927 of Saturday 10 November 2018.”
