MASKED men geared up in white forensic type suits to slash and stab a couple with bladed weapons in front of terrified children.

Murder cops are now investigating the targeted attack which happened in Paisley’s Ferguslie Park on Monday night.

The force said a 26-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were within a house in Ferguslie Park Avenue when three men dressed in white forensic type suits and masks forced their way into the house. They attacked the pair with bladed weapons. The attack happened at around 7.50pm.

Glasgow Times:

The violent attackers then left the house and the injured pair managed to contact emergency services.

They were taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where the woman was treated for her injuries before being released. The man is still being treated within hospital for a serious head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable. The Evening Times understands their injuries included stab wounds and lacerations.  Detective Inspector Ross MacDonald at Paisley CID said: “Although we have yet to establish a motive for this violent attack we believe that the injured man and women were specifically targeted.

“This despicable act of violence was carried out in front of two very young children who were within the house and has left them in a very distraught state. The injuries that the man sustained were so serious that the incident is being treated at attempted murder.

“A team of officers are carrying out door to door enquiries in an attempt to gain further information but at this time we believe that the three masked men may have made off in a small white car that was seen in the area.”

The force later revealed that the three masked men were seen within a white coloured Volkswagen Golf car at around 7.35pm in Dalskeith Avenue prior to the attack. Officers said it would appear that they stopped to ask a man for directions. A blue and green coloured SSE works van was also seen in Dalskeith Avenue around this time, and officers urge both the pedestrian and occupants of the van to get in touch with police immediately as they may be able to provide vital information.

Anyone who has any information or who has seen the three men hanging around the area either before or after the attack took place is asked to contact police at Paisley immediately via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 3605 of 24 September. Alternatively calls can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
