TERRIFIED staff were threatened with a knife by a masked man who raided an off-sales in broad daylight in East Kilbride.

The robber struck in East Kilbride's Montgomery Street at around 10.15am on Friday, July 20.

The masked man entered the 101 off-sales where he threatened the two members of staff with a knife and demanded money. He then made off with a three-figure sum of cash.

The man is described as around 6ft in height and he was wearing a heavy dark-blue or black jacket, black tracksuit trousers and black trainers.

Detective Inspector Alan MacDonald, from Cambuslang Police Office, said: “The investigation into this robbery is at an early stage. We have officers in the area carrying out enquiries and examining CCTV in an effort to trace the person responsible.

“This was a terrifying ordeal for the staff involved and thankfully no one was injured. At this time I would urge any witnesses to this robbery, or anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact Cambuslang Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 1016 of 20th July.
