A MAN is being treated for facial injuries after being attacked for unknown reasons.

The 32-year-old flagged down a taxi on Royston Road, near to St Roch's Secondary, after being assaulted.

He is being treated in Glasgow Royal Infirmary for a facial injury after the incident around 11.30pm on Thursday.

Detective Sergeant Martin Smith said: “Our enquiries are at an early stage and we are in the process of establishing the circumstances of what has happened. 

"We don’t know why the man has been attacked and I am appealing to local residents and members of the public, who were in the area around the time of the incident to contact us. 

"Any small piece of information could lead us to identifying the attacker and establish the motive for the assault.”

Detectives said the exact location of the attack is unknown however, officers believe it happened around 11.20pm somewhere in the Royston Road, Blochairn area.

There is limited information about the incident and the attackers but officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas for any information that will assist the investigation.

Officers are also carrying out door-to-door enquiries.
