With such a selection to choose from, deciding to go out in Glasgow can be a bit of a task. Luckily for you, we've picked just a few of our favourite pubs, clubs and everything in between.
1. Cathouse
Union Street
It might be an acquired taste but there’s no beating the Cathouse if you’re a fan of rock, indie, pop punk, emo and pretty much everything in between. If you’re after a low key night out where you won’t be judged on your outfit, contour or dance moves, Cathouse is the place.
2. Buff Club
Bath Lane
The Buff Club is easy to forget being hidden down Bath Lane but holds its own against the other clubbing giants. Playing everything from disco, funk, hip hop and R&B, the up close and personal dancefloor has a collective atmosphere where people just want to have a good time and produce at least 20 bucket loads of sweat. Is that so wrong?
3. Firewater
Sauchiehall St
The self-confessed indie bar/club has just undergone a swish new makeover and it looking in great shape. As well as the usual bar adjacent dancefloor, new room the Casbah specialises in disco, funk, hip-hop and R&B for all your dancing needs.
5. Bamboo
W Regent St
Not for the claustrophobic, Bamboo is the old faithful when it comes to a sweaty R&B night. The music is varied, the ceiling are low and the drinks are cheap - what more could you want?
6. Broadcast
Sauchiehall St
Broadcast is a bit of a hidden gem on Sauchiehall Street. The relaxed/ chilled out vibe and selection of white Russians is great for a low-key night out or just a few quiet drinks.
7. The Howlin’ Wolf
100 Bath St
If you’re in the city centre, Howlin’ Wolf is definitely worth a visit. The bar/kitchen/venue is ideal for a great atmosphere, homemade food and blues music.
8. Polo Lounge
Wilson Street
Described as Scotland’s biggest and most fabulous gay venue, Polo is always a great final stop on a night out in the centre or the Merchant City. With different rooms to choose from, you can always find a cheesy pop song that’s for you.
9. The Rumshack
Pollokshaws Rd
This South Side bar is known for its selection of rum - over 100 types to be precise - Caribbean beers and canteen. They also host all the best DJs and Hampden pre-parties. Although not quite in the centre, it’s definitely worth the trip.
10. Sloans
Argyle St
Not just famous for its mac n cheese, Sloans spans over three floors and is always bustling. The bar is in a great city centre location and is always an inviting place to grab a drink.
11. Stereo
Renfield Ln
Stereo is a vegan friendly music venue and restaurant which always draws a crowd. Don’t let its ‘alternative’ reputation put you off - staff are always welcoming and even if you’ve never heard of the band playing in their basement, you’re bound to have a good time.
