English supermodel Cara Delevigne turned heads at this year's Met Ball, a major event in the fashion calendar.

Her edgy dress was set off perfectly with punk-inspired dark eye make-up and nude lips. Here's how you can replicate the look in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Start with your usual foundation base and then fill in your eyebrows using either shadow or brow pencil. This will help to frame your face and draw attention to your eyes. I used Bourjois Radiance Reveal Healthy Mix foundation, mixed with Estee Lauder Spotlight and filled in model Lesley's brows with the dark brown shade from the HD Brows Vamp palette using an angled brush.

Step 2: Create a base for the eye-shadow using a cream shadow or primer. I chose Mac paint pot in the shade Painterly.

Steps 3 and 4: Apply a matt grey eye-shadow over the lid, from the lash line to just above the natural crease of the eye, blending it slightly outwards to open out the eyes. I used Bobbi Brown eye-shadow in the shade Steel. Also, apply a line of this same eye-shadow to the bottom lash line, focusing on the outer corners.

Steps 5 and 6: Darken the eyes by applying a matt black eye-shadow along the lash line and the outer corners of the eyelids, in a slight V shape, blending it with the grey - I used Mac eye-shadow in the shade Carbon. Again, apply this to the bottom lash line. Then apply any black eyeliner pencil along the top lash line, bottom waterline and bottom lash line and blend it with your brush. Finish your eyes by applying lashings of black mascara to top and bottom lashes; I used Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara. Then dab a white or light silver shadow shade into the inner corners of the eye.

Step 7: Complete the look by applying a luminous bronzer all over the face, especially on the cheeks - this look is all about the eyes, so no blusher needed! I used Elizabeth Arden Mineral Bronzer and Mary Kay Chiffon Sheer Dimensions Powder. For nude lips I chose Arbonne lipstick in the shade Shell. Finally, for good staying powder use a fixing spray, such as Urban Decay All-Nighter
