The amount of tickets Hearts have sold for their Scottish Cup semi-final with Rangers has been revealed.

The Tynecastle outfit has sold 17,500 tickets for the showpiece event at Hampden Park.

Hearts fought hard for a 50-50 split of the national stadium with the Scottish FA.

They were granted their wish and were handed an allocation of 21,000 for the cup encounter - with Rangers getting the exact same number.

It emerged last week that Hearts will need to foot the bill for any tickets that are unsold from their allocation.

And with the game approaching on Sunday, it seems they're still a little bit off a sell-out, although, the Jambos are hopeful of shifting more tickets before the big day.

As well as taking a financial hit for failing to sell out the allocation, this evidence could be used against Hearts in their fight for future 50-50 splits of Hampden while on cup action.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Thelin has been appointed as the new Aberdeen manager.

The Swedish boss - who will leave current club Elfsborg to move to Pittodrie - will take over in early June.

Interim manager Peter Leven will lead the first team until the end of the season before moving into a role as assistant first-team coach thereafter.

Assistants Christer Persson and Emir Bajrami will join Thelin at the club in the summer.

“We are delighted to be welcoming Jimmy to Pittodrie this summer," said Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack.

“The extensive process we ran allowed us to speak with several excellent candidates from both the UK and abroad. As the process evolved, we were determined to land Jimmy and were prepared to be patient. Elfsborg certainly didn’t make it easy for us, which tells you how highly they think of his six-year tenure."
