A busy street was 'all shut off' after a violent attack in Paisley.
Reports on social media told of a heavy police presence on Rowan Street in the town on Monday evening.
Officers revealed that they had been called to a serious assault of a man which they think happened at the nearby junction of Stock Street and Espedair Street.
The 31-year-old victim was rushed to hospital to be treated for his injuries.
They are described as serious but not life-threatening.
An investigation into the attack has now been launched.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.35pm on Monday, March 11, 2024, police were called to the Rowan Street area of Paisley, following the serious assault of a 31-year-old man.
"The incident is believed to have taken place nearby at the junction of Stock Street and Espedair Street.
"The man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries and enquiries are ongoing."
